How To Lucid Dream

May 17th, 2012

how toExpand the description and view the text of the steps for this how-to video.

Check out Howcast for other do-it-yourself videos from BenandCarter and more videos in the Sleep category.

You can contribute too! Create your own DIY guide at http://www.howcast.com/videos/new or produce your own Howcast spots with the Howcast Filmmakers Program at http://www.howcast.com/filmmakers/apply.

Learning How to lucid dream—that is, to be aware during your dreams that you are, indeed, dreaming—will allow you to live out fantasies, stop nightmares, and even road test some solutions to real life problems.

To complete this How-To you will need:

A dream journal
An alarm clock

Step 1: Start a dream journal

Keep a journal and a pen next to your bed so you can immediately record everything that happens in your dreams. You’ll begin to see patterns, and that will help you realize when you’re actually in the middle of a dream.

Step 2: Adopt some new habits

Look intently at mirrors, book titles, and your watch face several times a day. In dreams, these images are always blurred. Looking at them while awake will increase their appearances in your dreams, helping you recognize when you are dreaming.

Tip: Pinching yourself when you’re awake is another good way to train your brain to recognize when you’re dreaming, because when you pinch yourself in a dream you feel no pain.

Step 3: Talk to yourself

Tell yourself as you drift off to sleep that you’re going to have a lucid dream. Research shows that simply instructing your brain to realize you’re dreaming—especially when you’re in the suggestible pre-sleep phase—helps boost your odds of doing so.

Step 4: Set an early alarm

Set your alarm half an hour earlier than normal. When it rings, stay awake 30 to 60 minutes, then go back to sleep. Because you likely interrupted dream-intense REM sleep, you’re now 20% to 50% more likely to have a lucid dream.

Tip: So George Clooney is about to kiss you and you feel like you’re starting to wake up? Pretend to spin around in circles. This keeps the dream going 96% of the time.

Step 5: Start directing

Once you’re attuned to the fact that you’re dreaming, start altering the action. Fly over mountains. Tell off your mother-in-law. Have a “dream” date. You can also test problem-solving scenarios, practice sensitive confrontations, and speak to loved ones who have passed.

Cut up the Back of your T-Shirt – Simple DIY Tutorial

May 17th, 2012

Posted by admin in DIY Tutorial | 25 Comments »

diy tutorialSimple tutorial for an easy way to cut up your t-shirts.

Reconstruct old, boring t-shirts by cutting strips into a “V” shape on the back of your t-shirt. Just learn the basic weave, it’s so easy! Your own diy style shirt diy tutorial

Step 1
Cut the neck off – Follow the original seam so your cut will be even. Cut 1in wider than the original neckline for a roundneck. Cut 1.5-2in wider than original neckline for a wide, boatneck or off the shoulder neckline.

Step 2
Fold the back of the shirt in half – Match up the shoulder seams so it is even.

Step 3
Decide the shape of the “V” that you want. The wider, or deeper the V, the sexier and more revealing the shirt. Use a rule to mark where you’ll be cutting.

Step 4
Cut thin strips – about a finger width all the way down. Careful not to cut too low or you’ll have a hard time tying a knot in step 7.

Step 5
Stretch out the fabric to roll edges. Take each strip that you cut and pull it out so it turns into a thin and even strip.

Step 6
Weave – take the second strip and put it under and over the first strip. Still holding onto the second strip, take the third strip and place it under and over the second strip. Continue all the way to the bottom. Make sure you didn’t miss any strips before doing the next step because you can still undo and redo the weave at this point.

Step 7
Knot – when you’re holding onto the last loop at the very bottom of the V, take scissors and cut the loop in half. Double knot both of them to the previous loop to hold the weave.

Step 8
Done!!!!! You can repeat the weave if you like the look of having 2 or more weaves. See the difference compared to the main picture at the top? Try it out!

Tutorial/DIY: Glitter Shoes

May 15th, 2012

Posted by admin in DIY Tutorial | 25 Comments »

diy tutorialThis is a cheaper and alternative glitter shoe compared to the pricey brand names at the mall! This is my first tutorial/DIY video so sorry if I’m being awkward!

Materials:
- glitter (any color)
- shoes (any old or new pair of shoes you want to glitterfy!)
- permanent fabric glue
- sponge tip paintbrush
- hairspray or spray-on-glue

Instructions:
1) Make a pasty medium with a squirt of glue and glitter. Also, put a napkin in your shoe so that the glitter won’t go in it.
2) In small sections, use the sponge tip paintbrush to smoothly and evenly spread the glitter paste onto the shoe.
3) Put glitter on the shoe while the glue is still wet.
4) Using your fingers, lightly press the glitter down onto the glue so that it will stick.
5) Tap off excess.
6) Spray hairspray all over the shoe.
7) Put a second layer of glitter and spray hairspray all over again. (Optional)
diy tutorial Let dry for 24 hours.
I also heard that spray-on-glue might even be better, so try that!

I really hope this video helped you! Credits go to pursebuzz – check her videos out too!
