http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/ca_playground/article/0,2041,DIY_13723_2270320,00.html

i am very interested in the project in the link above.

main question: how much do you think all these materials would cost?

I’m in California and I’m looking to buy from Home Depot, or Lowes if that makes a difference.

Also, are there any other links to similar projects?

thanks!
btw– I have all of the tools already, i’m just talking materials.

Okay, I’ll be brave enough to actually give a price.. The plywood will be the most expensive part of this project, about $40. per sheet. My best ballpark guess for this playhouse is somewhere in the $300.00-$500.00 range.

By the way, why do you hate Phil Collins, other than that he’s a hypocrite.

If you keep a horse on DIY livery, what is the cheapest way to get farriery?

May 12th, 2012

Posted by admin in How to DIY | 6 Comments »

There is a horse livery up my road but it is 100% DIY [Do It Yourself] livery, and the farmer will not do anything but supply the box, it is up to the owner. If you had one horse, would you be better off keeping your horse barefoot or how could you get a cheaper farrier to come out for one horse?

Also, are the fabric boots that people put on their horses a good replacement to horseshoes?

Presumably there are other DIY liveries not just your one horse? Ask about their farriers and see if you can book yours in with others at the same yard.
Whether to have shoes or go barefoot depends on your horse, its feet and what kind of surface you ride on.
I have used rubber Equi-boots in the past as an emergency (eg horse losing a shoe the day of a competition) and they work out as lasting a similar time as a set of shoes for around the same cost, but I personally found that there are several things that can go wrong with them and I prefer shoes.

Do you know any good DIY Bedroom accessories?

May 10th, 2012

Posted by admin in How to DIY | 2 Comments »

I want some good simple DIY accesories for my bedroom. I’m 17 by the way, Like making a a flower press picture frame. Something like that? How to turn old into something new?

If I had more information I could give you better ideas. What is your style? What color is the room (paint, linens, curtains). What do you have in the room right now in the way of furniture and accessories?

Here are some general ideas:

Anything old can be made new with fresh paint.

Wall Art – Anything goes here. You can buy cheap canvases and paint anything on them (if your lean toward modern a simple geometric patter would look great.) Just try to use, for paint, the colors that are already in the room

A memo/bulletin board – Buy a cheap (from Walmart) cork board and cover it in fabric (you can use a spare sheet, a curtain panel, or anything that is currently in the room.)
Staple (from the back) coordinating ribbon in a criss cross fashion and use it to hold photos, messages, whatever.)

Make your own lamp – Buy a cheap lamp kit and you can convert just about anything you like into a lamp but don’t forget to customize the lamp shade. You can paint it, hot glue trim, etlc.

Pillows – Add pillows to your bed that compliment your bedcover and other colors in the room

Curtain Tie Backs – Get really creative here. You can tie silk flowers around the curtains or bend an old fork to use as a tie back – you are only limited by your imagination.

Best of Luck
